02 · EAR TRAINING

Hear the melody.
Write what follows.

Quarter notes only. The first note is your starting point.

Easy favors neighboring notes in the pitch set. Medium favors leaps up to an octave. Hard allows any motion, including repeated notes and wide leaps. All notes stay in your range. “Any” chooses a new tonic or pitch set per melody; the chosen set is shown above the staff. Major and natural minor scales display their key signatures on both staves; major pentatonic uses its major key signature. Chromatic melodies have no key signature. Groups of four quarter notes form a measure; a final group may be shorter.
